Mark Schlack, Senior Vice President, Editorial
Mark Schlack has covered the use of technology in business for 29 years, concentrating on computer technology for the last 22 years. He began his high-tech career as network editor at Datamation, where he later became editor. Following that, he was the editor in chief of BYTE magazine, where he was responsible for both print and Web versions of the magazine, both domestically and internationally. He also served as VP/content for EarthWeb and VP/editorial for ITworld.com. Mark has been the recipient of a number of publishing awards, including a Jesse H. Neal Award and Certificate and several ASBPE and Folio awards. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He resides in Cambridge, Mass.

Rich Castagna oversees content for Storage magazine, SearchStorage.com, SearchDataBackup.com, SearchSMBStorage.com, SearchDisasterRecovery.com, SearchSolidStateStorage.com, SearchVirtualStorage.com, SearchCloudStorage.com, SearchStorage.co.UK, SearchStorageChannel.com and Storage Decisions seminars and conferences. Rich has been involved with high-tech journalism for more than 20 years; previously, he was executive editor of ZDNet Tech Update and Cnet Enterprise; editor in chief of Windows Systems magazine; senior editor for Windows magazine, and senior editor and technical editor for PC Sources. Rich has written more than 600 computer technology articles.
Cathleen A. Gagne, Senior Editorial Director, TechTarget
Cathleen Gagne plans and oversees strategy and operations for editorial across the TechTarget network. She works closely with the editorial teams to keep our many sites focused on the information needs of IT professionals. Previously, she was the editorial director for the Data Center and Virtualization Media Group, Channel Media Group and online editorial director for SearchStorage.com. In her more than 10 years at TechTarget, Cathy has also launched and operated three websites: SearchWin2000.com, SearchSecurity.com and SearchMobileComputing.com. Prior to TechTarget, she worked at Computerworld, holding positions such as careers editor, senior editor and assistant department editor for the technology section.
Kate Gerwig, Editorial Director, Networking Media
As editorial director of TechTarget's Networking Media Group, Kate works closely with the editorial staff to develop relevant content on the information technology needs of enterprise and cloud service provider audiences, including network technologies and trends, wireless networks, cloud computing services and data center architecture. Before joining TechTarget in 2007, Kate covered telecommunications networking and business for more than 15 years for a variety of magazines, websites and wire services. She was the executive editor of Tele.com magazine, principal analyst of enterprise network services at Current Analysis, Inc., and a senior editor at CMP custom publishing, where she worked with a wide variety of technology clients targeting enterprise customers. She also covered federal telecommunications legislation and regulations as a reporter in Washington, D.C.
Brian Madden, Editorial Director, founder of BrianMadden.com
Brian Madden is known throughout the world as an opinionated, super technical, fiercely independent desktop virtualization expert. He's written several books and over 1,000 articles about desktop and application virtualization. His blog receives millions of visitors per year and is a leading source for conversation, debate, and discourse about the application and desktop virtualization industry. Brian is also the creator of BriForum, the premier independent application delivery technical conference.
Scot Petersen, Editorial Director, CIO/IT Strategy Media
Scot Petersen manages editorial strategy and operations for the CIO/IT Strategy Media Group, which includes SearchCIO.com, SearchCIO-Midmarket.com and SearchCompliance.com. He is responsible for maintaining the sites' editorial excellence and keeping news and resources focused on the unique needs of senior technology executives. Scot joined TechTarget in March 2009. Previously, he was Director of Editorial Operations for Ziff Davis Enterprise and Editor of eWeek Magazine. Scot has been a recipient of several Jesse H. Neal and ASBPE awards. He holds an MBA from Northeastern University.
Robert Richardson, Editorial Director, Security Media
Robert Richardson currently serves as editorial director of TechTarget’s Security Media Group. Prior to this post, he was editorial director at Black Hat, developing online products for the highly successful computer security conference. He spent several years as the director of the Computer Security Institute, where he was on staff from 2003 through early 2011. In that capacity, he’s given keynote presentations on three continents, often speaking about the CSI Computer Crime and Security Survey done in conjunction with the FBI, an undertaking he directed for several years. Prior to CSI, he was senior editor of Communications Convergence magazine for two years, where his beats included telecom security, wireless, Internet messaging, and next-generation phone systems. Robert started out his career as a systems-level programmer developing early PC network applications, leading to his writing articles that saw him become a frequent contributor to magazines and Web publications such as Ziff-Davis Internet Computing, BYTE, Network Magazine, and Small Business Computing. On occasion, Robert has also taught introductory courses in computer science at Swarthmore College.
Tim Scannell, Editorial Director, TechnologyGuide
Tim Scannell is the Editorial Director of TechnologyGuide, a family of product review and evaluation Web sites that provide a range of consumer and business information for influencers and buyers of technology products. Prior to joining TechnologyGuide, Scannell was editor of SearchEnterpriseWAN, another TechTarget property that provides strategic and technical information to enterprise WAN developers and administrators. He has been an editor and writer for more than 30 years, working for some of the top tech publishing companies in the world, including International Data Group, Ziff Davis, Cahners Publishing (now Reed Business Information) and CMP Media (now United Business Media). Prior to joining TechTarget, Scannell was the founder and principal analyst with Shoreline Research, a consulting, research and information services company specializing in mobile and wireless technology and initiatives; was co-founder of a consulting and channel marketing and training company based in Scotland; and was also a member of the core start-up team of SOFTBANK Corp.'s U.S. division, assisting with the launch and contributing to the Japanese editions of PC Week Japan, LAN Times Japan, MacUser Japan, and PC Magazine Japan.
Margie Semilof, Editorial Director, Data Center and Virtualization Media
As editorial director, Margie plans and oversees strategy and operations for TechTarget's Data Center and Virtualization Media group. She works closely with the editorial team to keep the many sites focused on the information needs of IT professionals. Prior to joining TechTarget, Margie has worked at various media companies as a reporter, editor and columnist, covering such diverse areas as general technology trends, channel strategies, software, networking, telecom and mobile computing. She holds BS and MA degrees from Boston University.
Hannah Smalltree, Editorial Director, Business Applications and Architecture Media
As Editorial Director, Hannah leads the content strategy and operations of the online publications in TechTarget’s Business Applications and Architecture Media Group, which covers packaged applications, application development, enterprise architecture, information management, business intelligence, analytics and more. She is responsible for maintaining the publications' editorial excellence and works with a team of writers and editors to produce news articles, multimedia, tutorials and other site content focused on the unique needs of IT and business professionals. Hannah has more than 10 years of relevant experience, working previously as a technology news reporter and in product and program management roles for technology companies.
